WILLIAMSBURG BIBLE'S HISTORY...
In 1964, the Lord moved Rev. David Moore to start an independent baptist church. He and several local families began to meet at an old service station on Richmond Road under the name Central Baptist Church of Williamsburg.
Three years later (1967), the congregation changed its name to Colonial Baptist Church and the Lord provided three plots of land on the corner of Waller Mill and Carrs Hill Roads (its present location). Rev. Moore felt his calling to establish a church was complete and resigned.
In 1971, the Lord directed Rev. Douglas Johnston to the pastorate of Colonial Baptist of Williamsburg. He faithfully served the church for more than three decades (1971-2005).
In 2005, Pastor Eric Ickes accepted the pastoral leadership of the church and began to lead the congregation.
In 2008, the congregation changed its name to Waller Mill Bible Church and the Lord revitalized it by strengthening: purposeful discipleship, expository Bible teaching, active membership, a plurality of elders and Christ-exalting worship. Pastor Eric served the church until 2019, when he felt the Lord directing him toward his next ministry—overseas Bible education.
In the Fall of 2019, God brought Pastor Joshua Harding to Waller Mill Bible church. He served the church until the Fall of 2021. During his absence, the Lord graciously filled the pulpit through students of Virginia Beach Theological Seminary until He brought WMBC’s next pastor.
In the Summer of 2022, the Lord called Pastor Trey Meester to this congregation. In 2025, the congregation determined to change the church's name to Williamsburg Bible Church, recognizing an oppurtunity to reaffirm our unity around the Lord's Word and trusting He would use it for His glory!
We pray this short history of our congregation has been helpful to you. We further trust you will be blessed by attending Williamsburg Bible Church as the Lord continues to shape this congregation and its members into the image of His Son. Whether you are able to visit for one week during your vacation to Williamsburg, or are able to join us on a more permenant basis, we welcome you to come be a part of the Lord's history here. May we all live unto His glory!
